Apart from being a part of the National Literacy Strategy, Drama is studied as a subject in its own right. We encourage the constant use of imagination and empathy to create and perform; and intellect to analyse and appraise. At the different key stages, we use the English National Curriculum framework as guideline to explore different issues affecting humans.
Where most subjects try to goad students to specific career paths, Drama offers an opportunity to rehearse who they might want to become in different situations to achieve specific objectives. In other words, you do not necessarily have to take up a career in acting. You could be anything you choose to be and apply the skills developed in Drama.
