Dear CIS Family,
Day 3 of the COBIS Games featured the football tournament where the students had to play the 5 aside football games. Below are the highlights.
- Team CIS was in Group 2 for the boys’ categories and in Group 1 for the girls’ categories.
- The boys played 5 preliminary games of which they won 2, drew 2 and lost 1. They came third and this took them into the 2nd tier play offs.
- The girls played 4 games of which they drew 2 and lost 2. This took them to the 4th tier playoffs.
- At the end of the day, Team CIS acquired 70 points which earned the team 360 points aggregate, placing them in overall 11th position out of 23 schools that participated.
All in all, the team shall be returning home with 11 bronze, 4 silver and 4 gold medals.
We appreciate the hard work and determination that the students put into the competition. This has placed them above not only other schools from Nigeria, but also, above others from Africa who participated in the games, making them the African champions. We are elated about how they were able to harness their strengths to come this far without minding that the girls’ team was three athletes short all through.
Most importantly for us as a learning institution, the exposure gained by the students from such international competitions gives us the greatest satisfaction. This is because we understand that such opportunities add to our strategies back here in school to ensure that our students are well prepared for the future.
Our coaches have also done really well in tutoring the athletes and giving them total support before and all through the competition.
We would also like to recognize the unreserved cooperation of parents. Special thanks to those who were present to give the students moral support. It was quite heartwarming to hear you cheer the students on to success in the video snippets shared on Day 1.
The sponsorship of Investment One and our ever supportive PTA is much appreciated as well. Thank you for your continuous support.
Special thanks also to students, parents and staff who promoted the students’ performances on social media. As the event is still trending, I would like to encourage you all our dear family to like and share our posts regarding the competition on:
A special welcome back ceremony for the team is in view. Please look out for details of it in the coming days.
Please see the final results table and photos from Day 3 events below.
