Imagine giving your child the opportunity to be the very best they can be. Introduce them to the International Award For Young People’s Award and they will gain valuable skills, have incredible experiences and make friends for life.
Open to anyone aged 14 to 24 (not just fans of the great outdoors), the International Award For Young People encourages teamwork and social interaction and helps young people to stand out from the crowd when applying for university and jobs.
For hundreds of thousands of young people who take part each year, the benefits of achieving an International Award For Young People Award at any level are endless. It is difficult to list them all here, but you should definitely know how much fun the students will have, how pushing themselves to do new things will help them grow in confidence and develop new skills. Why meeting new people will inspire them and lead to lasting friendships and how the International Award For Young People Award can give the student an edge when they apply for college, university or a job. Put simply, the International Award For Young People is about helping the student along the path to a productive and prosperous future. As many of the participants say, it’s life-changing.
The International Award For Young People Online Record Book has now been set up and we are ready to register our students with the Licensing Organisation (Intaward) so that we can start the programme in earnest. The Online Record Book is a way of recording the students’ progress as they go through the award. It means that students who at any point go to another institution will have all their achievements available to that institution if they wish to continue to the Silver and Gold Awards.
Students will be starting their Bronze level award on resumption of the second term. We aim to do our expedition in UK two weeks before the 2016-2017 academic year begins. The cost of this expedition will be approximately 620 000 Naira. For those students who will be in the UK at that time and can just come for the expedition this will be revised. The figure will be confirmed closer to the time depending on the exchange rates as well as the other factors.
Each Award participant from our school is expected to pay the sum of ten thousand naira only (₦10,000) as registration fee. This gives them access to the Online Record Book and certificates with badges upon successful completion of the Award program. It also gives them access to training materials in the school as well as cover some other logistics within the school.
Please could you make the payment at the accounts office by Friday 4th of December 2015 so that we can forward the names of the students to the Awarding Body for registration.
More information about the International Award For Young People Award can be found on our school website under Extra Curricular activities.
“I truly believe that my International Award For Young People Awards helped me gain a place at college and secure my job.”
Emmaline O’Toole, Bronze, Silver and Gold Award holder
The Skills section is about discovering what you’re really good at. Maybe you want to get better at something you already do, like playing a musical instrument, or learn something for the very first time, like how to design a website?
By developing practical and social skills and nurturing your personal interests and talents, you’ll boost your self-esteem and your CV.
“It has been an experience that I have enjoyed immensely and that I will remember for the rest of my life.” – Edward, Bronze Award holder
The Physical section is a chance for you to focus on your health and fitness and have fun along the way. As long as you pick something that requires a sustained level of energy and physical activity, the possibilities are endless.
Improve your football, rock climbing or dance skills or try a completely new sport or activity. Join a team or do it on your own. You don’t have to be super fit or world class – with the International Award For Young People, it’s about setting your own challenges, giving 100% and being the very best you can be.
Completing both my Bronze and Gold International Award For Young People Awards has taught me that the challenges and pain you face along the way are only temporary, the success and achievement lasts a lifetime! My International Award For Young People programmes have helped mould the person that I am today. I can’t even imagine what I’d be doing today had I not taken part; I wouldn’t have the friendships I’ve made, I wouldn’t have had so much success in employment and I most definitely wouldn’t be as confident as I am today.
