On Thursday the 9th of February 2017, CIS held its annual Athletics Sports Day. Parents turned up in
large numbers, spotting House colours as a sign of support for their children/wards. The event started
with the March past/parade and all students participated in their various Houses, showcasing beautiful
costumes, reciting chants and displaying creativity in the marching order to the admiration of everyone
The Foundation and Key Stage 1 students kick started the second phase displaying skills in accuracy,
coordination, balance, quick response/timing and speed. The competitiveness shown attracted lots of
ovation from the parents and guardians present.
The Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 events followed thereafter bringing with it a high level of
competitiveness and sportsmanship. Every student took part in various racing events which includes:
sack races, 3 legged races, 75m, 100m, 150m 200m, 400m and relay races.
There were also invited schools who came to take part in the inter-school relay, and they were
Edgewood College Lekki, St. Saviour’s School Ikoyi, Corona School Ikoyi and Marymount International
The students who took part in other field events exhibited high energy and focus on their games with
the spirit of a healthy competition.
At the end of the beautiful afternoon, the results were announced, in the match past/parade, Jacaranda
House (Blue) placed 1st ahead of Sycamore House (Red) and Acacia House (Yellow) followed.
The overall final results saw Sycamore house coming first ahead of the defending champion Acacia while
Jacaranda occupied the 3rd place ahead of Willow House.
