On the 15th of December,2017 CIS students gathered in the Main Hall for the annual inter house Choir Challenge. All four houses–Sycamore, Willow, Jacaranda and Acacia–had worked hard in the weeks prior, practising the song “O Come, o Come, Emmanuel”. Each had an ace up their sleeve: something that would make their performance stand out from the rest. The harmonies and melodies flooded the room with each rendition, but only one house could win first place. In the end, it was Willow house that earned first place, with striking acapella solos from the likes of Giselle, Adegboyega, Momo and Tosin.
Personally, I had a good time during the Choir Challenge. As a member of Willow house, I was also proud to have won, as we were generally perceived to be the underdogs. It was a great time for us, and indeed everyone who has a passion for music.
