Benin Day in CIS.

The 2019 Benin celebrations kicked off with the children cooking Benin delicacies. This included egusi, black soup, pepper soup, garden egg sauce and plantain. Further into the celebration, the children donned their royal regalia for the Benin presentations. It was interesting to listen to the children share their research on the history of Benin, and to watch them facilitate an assembly based on the tale of the great Oba Ewuare and his wives. The assembly explored different roles within the Benin Kingdom including the chiefs, traders and royal priests. The children were elated to have special guest IK Osakioduwa join them in the presentations.

Parents and teachers watched with joy as the children showed off their skills by drumming, dancing and singing to traditional music from Benin. The props and background were well put together too. All in all, it was an impressive presentation.
