Internal Assessment
Examination
The Examination stage of the CIS Curriculum (Year 10 and Year 11) culminates in our students taking those all important IGCSE and GCSE exams including BTEC portfolio assessment. They may sit one or two I/GCSEs at the end of Year 10, with the majority being taken at the end of Year 11.
GCSEs have been reformed in recent years and now contain much less coursework. What coursework there is will be completed at school under “controlled conditions” and GCSEs are no longer “modular” with unit tests en route: all of the content is now tested in a final examination during May and June. Some practical subjects have slightly different arrangements.
The Examinations office will be glad to help you with any queries relating to your examinations. Please select the appropriate section from the menu on the right-hand side.
If the information in these sections does not answer your query, you can contact the Examinations office through the school office.
These take place in December and June. More information can be found on the Student Intranet.
Personalized examination timetables for each examination season are distributed to each candidate. Each candidate must sign to confirm receipt of their personalized statement of entry and timetable. The personal details on these documents need to be checked very carefully. If any amendments need to be made the Examinations office must be notified before the examination takes place. Any changes that are requested after this time will incur a charge from the Examination boards. All students are advised to inform the Examination office if they have any clashes.
Timetables published on this website are subject to change and do not include details of examination clash arrangements. The timetables for all examinations taking place at CIS will be available two weeks to examinations via https://sites.google.com/a/cislagos.org/student-area/examinations
