It has come to our attention that some students are coming into school with systems which do not meet the following Minimum System requirements outlined in the email sent on the 19th of June and posted on the school website at http://www.cislagos.org/news/updates-and-announcements/student-laptop-order-form/
One of the key criteria being that the installed operating system is Windows 8.0 Professional Edition or later
From next week, systems not meeting the criterion above will be denied access to the school network. This is in order to ensure a consistent level of security and prevent the misuse of network resources intentionally or unintentionally.
For this to be effective we are required to do the following:
1. Restrict administrative access on all computers to control what is installed on computers designated for school use. To achieve this the computers must be joined to the CIS domain – The professional edition of Windows 8.0 or later is required to meet this objective.
2. To control the excessive use of bandwidth and provide content filtering and anti-malware protection outside beyond the school network we must install an application called FortiClient on all student computers. The benefits of which are:
a. Best of breed Antivirus and Antispyware
b. Web content filtering
c. Bandwidth management
d. Personal firewall
These measures are necessary for the wellbeing of our students and the provision of a safe and conducive working environment of all our network users.
Thank you for your understanding.
