Thierry Mbimi

Thierry is an Associate Director and the Head of  Financial Risk Management within KPMG’s Advisory  practice. He leads Financial Risk Management advisory  and assurance activities across Nigeria and West Africa  (anglophone and francophone).

 Thierry is an ex-investment banker with in depth in-house and consulting experience with a particular focus on Banking and Financial Services. At KPMG, Thierry is also key member of Project Africa, a multi-years KPMG African wide initiative, which includes the “African Payment Study”, and the “Africa Bank of the Future”. He is also part of the strategic team to advise Nigeria new Central Bank governor on key initiatives going forward including financial inclusion.

After 23 years overseas (12 years in France and 11 years in Australia), Thierry joined KPMG Nigeria in June 2013 from Deloitte Australia where he was a Director covering Financial Services and corporates. Prior to this, Thierry was an investment banker at ANZ Bank in Sydney. Prior to ANZ, his work experience included in-househeading financial risk management and performance management (IAG Asset Management / AUS), financial risk management consulting (PWC/AUS), financial engineering for quantitative applications (Macquarie Bank/AUS) and Optronic engineering and international/cross-borders project management (Alcatel/France).

Thierry’s career has led him to work in more than 37 different cities across 5 continents and he has enjoyed working in this fast and always-changing environment. He holds an MBA and a Master in Financial Management from MGSM-Australia, and a master in Optronic Engineering from ENSSAT-France. During his MBA, Thierry got awarded a Certificate of Merit Award in Recognition of Outstanding Performance in Information & Decision Analysis / Quantitative analysis (High Distinction – 1st Place in MGSM).
